TO THE EDITOR, Sir,—Will you kindly insert these few lines in your widely circulated paper for tho benefit ohthoover it may concern. I have a child who has been afllicted with an obstinate skin disease of a most itching nature for more than seven years. When six weeks old, or thereabouts, small reddish spots appeared in the face about the size of a pin's head. Of course a medical man was applied to, but it steadily increased until face and head were one dark brown crust of sores, Then it spread to the body, chest, back, joints,and all llcsliy parts, Medical skill appeared tobe of no use, but often, made him worse. Til despair I looked upon the doctors as useless beings of the community. On the 17th September lust the child was shown to Dr Speer, now residing in Wellington. Oil looking at linn for a minute or two he struck at the root of the disease at once, as a man of great skill can do, After the lirst five days' treatment; small stripes of healthy skin became visible; in less than a month tho face was clean two months a wonderful improvement on the body. After four months treatment there only remains a few marks on the legs and wrists. The child is still under Dr Speer's care, as he declares It will take some time yet to entirely remove it from his system. It must also not be forgotten to add that the medicines have not had the least unpleasant effect on the internal organs, which always was the case in previous treatments. Dear Sir,—lt is now about seven years since 1 was lirst attacked with a bad form of skin disease. Jt made its appearance in the shape of pimples, which rapidly spread over tho whole body, and soon affected my health so seriously that I grew to be a confirmed invalid. Naturally, 1 soui'lit professional aid, going to the best medical men in Wellington. I was treated by two of them in succession, but without any result to myself except the loss of a considerable sum of money. At the end of tho year 1 found that 1 was not in the least improved ; indeed, one of these gentlemen told nic candidly that everything possible had been done for me, and that I need not hope to be cured, 1 then consulted a Wellington specialist, and paid him a good fee for a cure, but with exactly the same result-no change for the better, As a last resource 1 applied to you about three months ago, and put myself under your hands. lam glad to be able to say that from the lirst I received great benefit; my health commenced to improve, my appetite also returned, and in a short tune the disease itself showed unmistakeable signs of giving way to the treatment, and now, after having been three months under your care, 1 can faithfully and thankfully report myself quite recovered, My health also is compcltely restored, and I feel now as 1 have not done for many years. As a token of my gratitude to you for so successfully treating me at a time when I had lost all hopes of being cured, I give yon this testimony, which you arc at liberty to make public should you so desire it. I will also give information respecting the case to anyone who may apply to me for the same, .JOHN DOCIIERTY, TO DR. SPEER, Wellington, 3rd May, 1888, SIR,—For a considerable time past I have been a great sufferer from skin disease in my legs, extending from the knee to the foot. Not only was the skill bad, but the flesh in a short time became seriously affected, and large angry ulcers made their appearance. My legs gred worse and worse, until I was finally obliged to knock off work and seek relief from some medical man in Wellington. On my arrival here I noticed in the papers the complete cure of Mrs Anderson's little son, and 1 at once applied to you, and placed myself under your care, feeling certain of being cured. Now, or within one month of my commencing treatment, lam glad to be able to say that my expectations are being fully realised, 1 contracted this disease during my occupation as a miner, through remaining two long in the water. It first made its appearance in small pimples, gradually increasing and extending over the legs from the knee downward. The eruption was accompanied by intolerable itching. After the lirst neck's treatment large patches of sound skin began to show, These increased in size and were healthy m appearance, the sores and ulcers at the same time decreasing in a very marked manner, lliis progress continued, as day after day the legs got better, and J am now able to carry out my design of visiting Europe, leaving to-day by the Ruapelui. 1 am fully satisfied that by the time 1 reach my destination 1 will be quite restored. lam glad to be able to give this testimony as to your ability to treat diseases of the sluii, and will add, in conclusion, that your charge for treating me was very moderate.
