[Ad\"l\] The Eparaima Road. [To Tim Editor.] .Sir,—Will reference to the road through the Native Reserve at Eparaima out by Mr Rawson, I wish you to know that Mr Richard Meredith offered me two five pound notes if I would sign my name to a letter objecting to this road. I am, etc., June 7. Pera Anaku, Snt,—As tho paragraph in your issue of the Oth inst. relative to the proceedings of the Wliareanw Road Board, in which I am represented as having tried to bribe the natives over the Eparaima road, through their reserve, and the letter that followed in next evening's paper signed Pera Anara, the motive of which declares that I offered him £lO if ho would sign a letter objecting to the road, arc calculated to do me damage, will you kindly allow me to state that I hold a declaration by Pera Anaru, since made, interpreted, and duly sworn to, in which he makes the following statements:- Ist. That I never offered him money as alleged. 2nd, That .the letter published by you was ikpitteu by Mr George Moore, and that 7/10 (Anaru) believed when he signed it that it referred to the lease of the Eparaima reserve, I am, etc., R. Snt,—We were present when Pera Anaru signed the letter published in w your issue of the 7th June. There y had been much talk ahout the road through our land at Eparaima, which Mr Meredith is trying to make against our wishes, and we are quite sure that Pera understood exactly what he was signing.
