Invercabgill, June 14,
Invercargill has now a temporary water supply at a pressure of 251b, the reticulation of the town, 24 miles, being complete, Arrangements have been made by which the water from the well is thrown into tanks by a pulsometer and gravitates through the streets. It is expected that the permanent pumps and engines will be erected within three months, when the direct pressure will be applied to the mains on the modified Holly system.
Hokitika, June 14,
The accident to the overland coach occurred four miles on the Christchurch side of the Bealey. On coming up a siding at Waimakariri the coach encountered a laud slip, when the horses plunged and broke the king bolt and went over the bank. They are not badly injured. Mr Cassidy, the driver, was shaken, but not hurt seriously. Eventually lie took the coach on to the Bealey, where lie now awaits a coach from this side.
There lias been very heavy rains and squalls during the last few days. The rivers are flooded. The miners have now abundant water, No serious damage is reported. Wanganoi, June 14. •
Mr McLean, Manager of the National Bank here, has been appointed to the Napier Branch, His place here will be filled by Mr A, Broad, from the Hokitilii branch. Chuistciiukch, June 14.
A telegram, received here from Mr Cassidy, proprietor of the West Coast coach, denies that any of his bones were broken, or any horses injured in the coach accident. He gives no further particulars, Napier, June 4. MrDobson has received the following telegram from London, dated 13th June" The Bay ley sailed on Wednesday, the 18th, and the Clairmont sailed on Sunday, the 10th June. 8000 carcases ox Selembria are sound; the balance of the cargo lias been condemned.
