Masterton Hospital Trustees.

The monthly meeting of the trustees was held, yesterday (Thursday), in the Institute. Present: Messraaf C. Boddiugton (Chairman), J. B. Keith, J. lorns, and the Rev. W. E. Paige. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £33 lis 3d. The Hospital diary was examined, showing since last meeting one case admitted May 21st suffering from sciatica; three cases admitted June lltli, one from gunshot wounds in both thighs, and compound fracture right knee, a second with double frac- A ture of leg, and the third with severe ' \ injuries to both eyes. On the 12th inst. ' a consultation was held by Drs Hosking, Milne and Bey when the patient A. Fielding declined to be operated on. Mr Keith the visiting member gave a satisfactory report upon the condition of the Hospital. Accounts amounting to £l7 0s 3d were passed for payment.

It was resolved that the recommendation of the custodian, that tha Hospital ground be dug over, and thoroughly cleaned, and cropped potatoes in the proper season, fljti afterwards laid down in grass be approved. A discussion took place with regard to the non-payment by patients for maintenance on leaving the Hospital. A man named Gurotte, who had signed an undertaking to pay the usual fees, had been written to twice by the Secretary without even an acknowledgment of the letters. . It was decided by the Trustees to M take legal measures to enforce pay- : ment.

The visiting member for the past month reported having ordered some linoleum for one of the wards. The action was confirmed. The Rev. W. E, Paige was appointed visiting member for tiie month, and the meeting closed.
