Municipal Fire Brigade.

The adjourned annual meeting of brigade took place on Titesdajificnlng, Juno 12, Captain Barkor in the Chair. The annual report was submitted. It showed that during the year ending the 31st May, the bell gave the alarm 3G times, 13 of which were for liroa in dwellings, and at o of them the Jubileo had got up steam; while three of the alarms were false, The alarms for chimneys numbered 20. The following resolutions were then Teamed:-"That for tlio future all officers under the rank of captain be elocted by the members of the brigade." " That the sum of be given in prizes for the best attendmce during the year; divided into 8 prizes, the highest £4 4s and the lowest £1 Is, The following officers were elected: Treasurer, Mr R. J. Fitton; Secretary, Fireman B. Nichols; Branclimen,Firemen Foster, Thomas, and Marsh, were re-elected, Fireman 13, Bayler, taking Brahman Brasch's place. TfPfollowing resolution was carried unanimously " That the Brigade deeply regret thorctirement ofßranchuian Brascli, and award to him a cordial vote of thanks for the valuable services rendered by him when in the Brigade, and wish him every success in his new home in Wellington." Letters were received from the Secretary of the Firo Brigades Association, stating that the Government had retrenched the annual grant, and Jmjiing the members of the Brigade to get the member for their district to use his influence with the Government to get the grant on the estimates. It was decided that Captain Barker interview Mr Beetham on the subject. Lieutenant D. Pickering, and Foreman H. Broom, retain their positions this year without election. Next year the offices they hold must be obtained through the ballot box. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
