TO THE EDITOR, Sib,—Will you kindly insert these few lines in your widely circulated paper for the benefit of whoever it may concern, I have a child who has been afflicted with an obstinate skin disease of a most itching nature for more than seven years. When six weeks old, or thereabouts, small reddish spots appeared iu the face about the size of a pin's head. Of course a medical man was applied to, but it steadily increased until face and head were one dark brown crust of sores. Then it spread to the body, chest, back, joints ) :ind all fleshy parts, Medical skill appeared tobe of no use, but often, made him worse, In despair I looked upon the doctors as useless beings of the community. On the 17th September last the child was shown to Dr Speer, now residing in Wellington. On looking at him for a minute or two he struck at the root of the disease at once, as a man of great skill can do. After the first five days' treatment.; small stripes of healthy skin became visible ; in less than a month the face was clean two months a wonderful improvement on the body. After four months treatment there only remains a few marks oil the legs and wrists. The child is still under Dr Speer's care, as lie declares It will take some time yet to entirely remove it from his system. It must also not bo forgotten to add that the medicines have not had the least unpleasant effect on the internal organs, which always was the case in previous treatments, So I can confidently advise anyone who should be so unfortunate as to require medical aid to call on Dr Speer for advice, ' lam Ac,, A. ANDERSON. Joiinsonville, 23rd January, 1888. I will willingly give any further information to any person who will either call or address me at Johnsonville; Petone, l'lth May, 1888. TO DR SPEER, Dear Sik,—lt is now about seven years since I was iirst attacked with a bad form of skin disease. It made its appearance in the shape of pimples, which rapidly spread over the whole body, and soon affected m,y health so seriously that I grew to he a confirmed invalid. Naturally, 1 sought professional aid, going to the best medical men in Wellington, I was treated by two of them in succession, but without any result to myself except the loss of a considerable sum of money, At the end of the year I found that 1 was not in the least improved ; indeed, one of these gentlemen told mo candidly that everything possible had been done for me, and that 1 need not hope to be cured, 1 then consulted a Wellington specialist, and paid him a good fee for a cure, but witluexactly the same result—no change for the better, As a last resource I applied to you about three months ago, and put myself under your hands. lam glad to be able to say that from the first I received great benefit; my health commenced to improve, my appetite also returned, and in a short time the disease itself showed unnnstakcable signs of giving way to the treatment, and now, after having been three months under your care, i can faithfully and thankfully report myself quite recovered, My health also is compeltely restored, and I feel now as 1 have not done for many years, As a token of my gratitude to you for so successfully treating me at a time when I had lost all hopes of being cured, I give yon this testimony, which you are at liberty to make public should you so desire it. I will also give information respecting the case to anyone who may apply to me for the same, JOHN DOCHERTY. TO DU, SPEER, , Wellington, old May, 1888. t SIR,—For a considerable time past I have been a great sufferer from skin disease in ' my legs, extending from the knee to the foot. Not only was the skin bad, but the t flesh in a short time became seriously affected, and large angry ulcers made their ap- < pearance. My legs gred worse and worse, until I was linally obliged to knock off work and seek relief from some medical man in Wellington. On my arrival here I noticed in the papers the complete cure of Mrs Anderson's little son, and 1 at once applied to you, and placed myself under your care, feeling certain of beinj; cured. Now, or within one month of my commencing treatment, lam glad to bo able to say that my expectations are being fully realised, I contracted this disease during • my occupation as a miner, through remaining two long in the water. It lirst made its appearance in small pimples, gradually increasing and extending over the legs from the knee downward. The eruption was accompanied by intolerable itching. After the lirst week's treatment large patches of sound skin began to show, These , increased in size and were healthy m appearance, the sores and ulcers at the same ] time decreasing iu a very marked manner. This progress continued, as day after | day the legs got better, and lam now able to carry out my design of visiting Europe, 1 leaving to-day by the Euapelni. 1 am fully satisfied that, by the time 1 reach my I destination I will be quite restored. lam glad to be able to give this testimony as 1 to your ability to treat diseases of the skin, and will add, iu conclusion, that your 1 chargo for treating me was very moderate. ' ! Yuurs Faithfully, 1 CHARLES -lOHN SMITH. TO DR SPEER. Dear Sik-1 am very ploased to be able to report that my little son. about whom I consulted you a month since, is now completely cured, The boy is live years of age, and at the time 1 called to see you was suffering from what appeared to be a bad form of skin disease in his legs. On receiving assurance that you would cure him speedily, I put him under your treatment, and 1 am t'lad to say that you were thoroughly successful, the cure having been effected in a shorter time even than 1 was led to anticipate. The medicine you gave was easily taken, and thoroughly agreed with the child. This testimony is due to you, not only for the successful treatment of the case, but also for the barely nominal charge you made me. Yours truly, MRS ROBERTS,
