The items for the police voto in the estimates are taken together and do not show indiyidual reductions. The complete list will however be interesting, and is as follows:—Commissioner, £400; Chief Clerk and Accountant, 1375; three clerks, one at £225, one at £213, and one at £180; five Inspectors (first class) at £400; the Inspectors (second-class) at , four Inspectors at £300; one \ tor at JJ2SO; District ClerSfflL; £275; four -Sergeant-Majors at Gdper day; twenty-nine Sergeants (first-class) at 9s Cd a day; nineteen Sergeants (second-class) at 9s a day; seventeen Sergeants (third-class) 8s Gd day; 135 first-class constables at 8s a day; 100 second-class constables at 7s Gd; 147 third-class at 7s a day. Detective Inspector, first-class 15s Gd a day; six second-class, jfe a day; six third-class, 9s Gd a dajff thirteen special constables—one at ,£llßl2 6d, pne at LIOO, two at L 75, four at LOO, one at LSO, two at L4O, one at L3O, and two at L2O. Allowances to officers in lieu of quarters-eight at LSO.
