Eketahuna Road Board.
An ordinary meeting of the Board was held on the 4th instant. PresentMessrs A. Anderson (Chairman), E. C. Beekman, M. Neilson, and S. Bacon. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondenceinwaids: From County Council with electoral roll for Alfredton riding. From W. C. Smith, M. H.R. re Pahiatua Council Bill, stating he had obtainedconsentofpromoters to have all parts of the Eketahuna Road District excluded therefrom. From Mr (}. Beetham, M.IIR, re Pahiatua County Bill. From Colonial Secretary stating lie had gazetted the newly elected members of the Board. From auditor general with certified balance sheet. From Mr B. Budden asking to have the bush oil Mr Grady's line felled. From Receiver of Land Revenue, stating the plans of the Parkville Special Settlement had not yet passed the the chief survey, and one tenth of the price of the rural land had not been paid to the public account. From County Council requesting returns to be forwarded under Clause 318 Counties Act. From Colonial Treasurer stating that he is prepared to receive applications for loans. From J. Thompson asking to have bush felled on the line adjoining his section. From J. King asking to have an approach made to his bridge. From Smith and Hogg asking for a share of advertising and printing. From M. Johnson asking for a track to his land. From the Clerk' asking for a bonus of two guineas on account of extra work. Resolved that J. Thompson be paid for felling the adjoining line. That Mr Budden's request be granted. That Mr Neilson spend £3 on Johnson's track and JJ3 on King's bridge That the Star have the printing and advertising for the ensuing twelve months. That the Chairman and Mr Neilson have a gate erected at the entrance to the office, and a road formed to same. That the application of the Clerk be granted. Mr McDonald applied to the Board to allow the metal approach to the bridge in his contract to stand over till dry weather.—Granted. Mr Bacon informed the Board that lie was going to Wellington to interview the Government on the Parkville business.—lt was decided to hold a special meeting of the Board on his return to consider the proposal re Parkville. The Chairman informed tlie Board that Mr J. M, Davie had been absent from three consecutive meetings of the Board, without giving any satisfactory reasons for absence.—On the motion of Mr C, E. Beekman, seconded by Mr M, Neilson, his seat was declared vacant,
The Chairman informed the Board that the petition against the Pahiatua County Bill had been numerously signed, but the promoters had agreed to have it altered, so as not to take any part of the district, therefore 110 further action was necessary. Accounts amounting to £4B lGs 5d were passed for payment.
Messrs Bacon and Beclmmn were appointed to sign cheques, and the meeting adjourned.
