Masterton Road Board.
The regular monthly meeting of the Board was held on Saturday. Present, Mr E, D, Dagg (in'the chair), and Messrs Brown and Stuckey. The minutes of the last general, the special and the statutory meetings, were confirmed. The overseer's report was received and read. COIiIIESI'ONDENCE. From Alfredton Road Board, enclosing cheque of £4O in payment of claims. From S. Mawley, stating that there was no right of way through his section, No 4, Block 10, Kopuarangi, and stating that lie should resist any attempt to take a road through it. From -T. C. Ingram, stating that the impounding fees werenot a sutli eient remuneration for his services as ranger, and asking an advance of £3. From G, M. Brooke re poisoned wheat. From E. Donald, complaining that the ranger at the Taueru neglected his duty. From J. D. Cade asking permission to cut and remove timber trees from the line of road leading from Mr Dagg's property to the Waingawa River, and to lay a tramway. From George Moore, as to the line of Road at Uriti. From County Clerk, forwarding forms to be filled up. From same, with copy of resolution as to taking over main roads, From Colonial Secretary re the Gazetting of wardens. From Secretary to the Treasury, re valuation of property. From Auditor General, re balance sheet.
A deputation consisting of Messrs Donovan and Pownall waited on the Board respecting the line of road. The Board asked them to put into writing what they actually required. Mr Donald McLaclilan waited upon the Board in reference to fencing a piece of road leading through his property.
He was informed that the Board at a recent meeting had agreed not to do
the work, and the members presen adhered to that resolution.
The following resolutions were passed:—That Mr Cade have liberty to take the timber asked for on the Upper Manaia and Upper Plain roads and also to lay down a tramway on the same, to be moved with all obstructians whenever the Board called on him to do so.
That Mr E. Donald be requested to refer his complaint re ranger to the North County Council.
That a committee of the whole be appointed to meet on Saturday the 9th current at 11 a.m. to adjust expenditure and adjust rate for the ensuing year.
That a copy of Mr Mawley's letter be sent to the Chief Surveyor, and he be askod to say whether the road leading through section 4, Block 10, Kopuarangi, is a legal road. That Mr Stuckey bo requested to wait on the North County Council for the purpose of adjusting accounts.
