PARLIAMENTARY

Mr Ormoiul gave notice of motion as follows: —That with tlie view of reducing the taxation shown by the Financial statement to be necessary if certain services are continued, this House is of opinion (1) that the school age be fixed at six years, so that the saving named by the Colonial Treasurer namely, £25,000 may be thereby secured; (2) that the payment of subsidies to local bodies be abandoned in order that a saving of the duty proposed to bo raised on tea may be secured; (8) thai in the present circumstances of the colouy the raising of additional revenue to the extent of 158,000 by ilie imposition of a primage duty is inexpedient, and the deficit for last year should be added to the funded debt. The Premier's motion, That the Customs Duties Bill, after its second readifig, shall take precedence of all the business untjl disposed of, "\yaß postponed till Tuesday,
