(From our own correspondent.)
Thf lack of anything worth chronicling must prove an excuse fo'Wgiy long silence. However, a sTOrt account of the principal incidents which have happened during the past few weeks in this locality may not prove uninteresting, The railway contract drags its slow length along, the woather proving an effectual stopper to rapid ]Aress, yet, knowing the energy of tne contractor, we firmly hope to be connected by iron bonds to the Empire City 'ere the close of 'BB. Such of our settlers that are entitled to compensation for damage sustained through the construction of the railway have sent in their claims. Our cricketers are preparing a wicket for next season. being short, they have adopted the sensible plan of doing the work themsolves by calling a "bee" for every Saturday
