A .meeting, at which it is estimated 10,000 persons were present, was held at Limerick yesterday, at which dissent at the Pope's rescript was strongly expressed. Mr O'lirien defied the Bishop of Limerick, who had prohibited the Roman Catholics from attending the meeting. A meeting for the same object was held at Kildare, where Mr Dillon declared that a vast majority of the Irish bishops endorsed and supported the action of the Parnellites, Meetings similar to those held at Limerick and Kildare are to be held at Waterford and Wexford.

A Terrible Collision,
Albany, May 28. Particulars to hand by the mail steamer of the collision between the Garonne and Lucinda show that tho Garonne sighted the Lucinda ten minutes before tho collision took place, her green light showing. The Garonne repeatedly signalled the Lucinda to port her helm, but no notice was taken of the warning, and apparently no watch was kept on board the Lucinda, The Garonne struck the Lucinda amidships. Twenty of the Lucinda's crew .clambered aboard the Garonne. One man was killed hj the collision. Another man, a cripple, refused to leave the Lucinda because lie was unable to swim, and went down with the vessel, which sank in ten minutes.
