BANKRUPTCY.
An examination before the Deputy Assignee (Mr W. Sellar)-of Eric W, West of Pahiatua, carpenter, a baut nipt, was held this morning at the Old Court room Masterton. The following statement of assets and liabilities was hauded inLiabilities— Pahiatua: A. L. Birney Ll7 10s, W. Best L 6, H. Sedcole Lll, G. Mallien Lll 103, Thos. Miller, L2 ss, J. Gregory L 5 15s, Alex. Yule LB, C, Stokes L 5, R. Marsh L 9, W. Oulton L2los, T. Hiclts LBlss, A. Black L 3, J. Henderson LlO. Woodville: R. Florence L 3 Bs. Masterton: M. Caselberg & Co. L7los. Total LOG 18s. Assets—Furniture LlO; tools Ll2. Total L 22. Deficiency L 74 18s. The debtor deposed that he had resided for the past three years at Pahiatua, working at his trade. Birnie's debt was incurred for groceries for his own house, and W. Best's for meat supplied. H. Sedcole, sawmiller, was for timber for building and fencing upon a section belonging to Mrs West. The section was purchased about three years ago by Mrs West for LIS. It contained J acre and was close to the business centre of the town. 6. Mallien'a account was for fencing and palings for the same section. Miller's account was for ironmongery and tools. Marsh's account was for tiiAber for building a workshop upon his wife's section. He had offered his creditors 5s in the <£, which they refused to accept. A portion of that money had been used for filing. He would not have filed, but was afraid of imprisonment for debt. He would still be willing to pay 5s in the £ if time was given him. This concluded the examination. The Deputy Assignee adjourned the meeting to 7 p.m., June Ist, at Mr Grigg's office, Pahiatua.
