Fire at Auckland.

Auckland, May 27.

A fire broke out about two o'clock this morning in the shop of Messrs gharland and 00., chemists, Sliortlandstreet, and the premises were gutted, all the stock being destroyed. The fire, which broke out at the reav of Sharland's, extended to tho warehouse of Messrs L. D, Nathan and Co, where considerable damage was done, a good deal of property 1 being injuredjby water, The stock of Sfr T, Peacock (optician) M.H.R., was much damaged by smoke and water, a numberof valuable instruments being destroyed, The insurances on Nathan's property are—Building, £2500 in the Royal office, stock £IOOO in tho South British office and £3OOO in the Northern. A policy of £BSO in the New Zealand office is held by Peacock, and other amounts in various offices. Maud's insurances are unknown, : , '
