Auckland, Friday. 1500 children were fed by the Salvation Army yesterday afternoon. At the Temperance Conference yesterday, a paper was read by Sir Win. Drowning Accident at Pahiatua Election Licensing Committee. (By Telegraph). Pahiatua, Friday. On Wednesday George Howell a Village settler, was drowned whilst crossing the Mangatainoka in a boat. He lost his presence of mind, and
jumped out when the boat was going down a rapid. The boat did not capsize, the river was in flood. The body has not yet been found. Messrs J. Hughes', Barrows, Wakeman, Aston, and Gf. Ijancke, were elected a licensing committee on Tuesday. The poll was only declared to-
