The Gas Committee.
A meeting of the Gas Committee of the Masterton Borough Council to held last evening. Present The Mayor (in the chair), Crs. Perry, Macara, Muir, and Heron.
The Manager reported that during the last month 124,700 cubic feet of gas was made. From 11 tons 8 cwt of coal up to six o'clock on Tuesday morning, which gave the very good return of 10,948 cubic feet per ton for the coal carbonized. There had been three new services put on during the month, and as there might be more soon he would need a further® supply of pipes. The stock of meters was also very low. He considered the dry meters was not a good sort to have and he would recomment that 1 doz of 3 light and doz of 5 light of W. and 13. Cowan's patent drum wet M meters be ordered; they were in his opinion the best to be had. The report was revived am} it wag
resolved tliat the plant asked for by the Manager bo ordered. In reply to the Mayor the Manager saidJjk water had fallen in the tank absPihree inches. There was nothing at all dangerous about it, It evidently rose and fell according to the weather. Accounts amounting to 8s Gd were passed, and the mdoting then closed.
