The English footballers arrived by the Te Anau this morning, but owing to tlie early hour the Eeception Committee were caught "napping," only one member being present. There was alargG'gatlienng of the public however. The visitors were driven in a drag to the Empire Hotel, and went to bed, as they wore unable to get berths, and spent the night on deck. It has been raining heavily this morning, but the weather now looks promising. The ground will bo pretty slippery, which will considerably benefit the Wellington men. The following is the English team:—Full back— Paul; three-quarters—Haslam, Speakman, and Anderton; halves—Dumby, Nolan: forwards-Seddon (oaptain), Eagles, Kent, Pinketh, Mathers, Thomas, Stewart, Banks, and Burnett,

Wairarapa Match Definitely Arranged,

Wellington, Saturday. Mr B. H. Wiolcerson has arranged with Lillywliite fqr a match Wairarapa v, England on the return trip of the team in September.

Wellington-Wairarapa v England

It lias been arranged tbat the Wellington and Wairarapa Unions shall combine to play against the Englishmen on Monday on the Wellington Basin Reserve. The players who will represent the country Union are Whatman, Hounslow, Welch, and J. Perry (Masterton), Udy (Greytown), and another. Baumber, of Carterton, aijd G. H. Smith, of Masterton, were also to have taken part In the match, but they are unable to get away, J. Perry will take the latter's place, and another man will be selected in place of Smith. My W. Hirschberg is making the arrangements with the North Wairarapa men for attendjug, and lie informs us that everything is definitely fixed for the constitution of the team as above.

The Railway Department has made special concessions for Monday's matoli, which are detailed iu our advertising columns. They allow holders of" Saturday return" tickots which will be issued to-day, and by the morning train on Monday, to return on Tuesday. Tickets which were purchased on Friday are also available oil that day,
