Taratahi-Carterton Road Board.
Tub ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held oil Saturday last. Present—Messrs 11. Braithwaite (in the chair), J, Rayner, E. W. Dorset, W. Parker, Jas. Stevens, W. B. Allen, E. Morgan, and N. Grace. The Chairman referred to the retirement of Mr Booth from the Board, and the memboAexpressed regret at his absence liter so long a membership. They also welcomed the newly-elected member, Mr E. Morgan. Mr Dorset reported in respect to a gravel pit at the East Taratahi, that the present oSSSpier of the land (Mr "Waite) was wining to let the Board have the use of it for a sum of £lO. asking permission to erect a gate across the road at Glaveville. Resolved that the request be acceded to, providing the settlers interested agree to it. Prom'Mr G. Phillips, asking for a copy of the Chief Surveyor's opinion upon the legality of the Waioliino Valley road, through section 216. Resolved that the letter be laid upon tho table. The letter accused Messrs Booth and Woltcrs of frustrating Mr Phillips in his endeavors to get the road. A Waiohine River Board rate of one shilling in the & was struck for the ensuing year. From Colonial Secretary's oflico re the loan to No 1 Ward, and advising that the money would be paid when required. The Board then adjourned for the ratepayers' meeting. On resuming, Mr Francis applied for a road through Mr liayner's laud. Mr Rayner stated that lie had no objection to tho road, providing he was paid for his land, Mr H. R. Bunny was reelected Chairman for the ensuing yaar. Some accounts were passed for payment. A fd in the & general rate was levied, and the meeting terminated.
