The Consolidated Bill, that wretched little baby of tho Town Lands Trust, was again in convulsions last evening, tickled with a feather by Mr Qenall and prodded with a pin by Mr Hogg. If tho Town Lands Trustees are willing to relegato their functions by allowing their bantjjng to be altered out of all recognition by a series of public meetings we do not object. The old Act is better than the new Bill as mangled, and will suffice, We do not believe the new Bill will come to anything. If it does, we will be quite content to watch the interests of the babe in its passage through Parliament, as they cannot well be protected in the present jumble of authority evolved by the weakness of Trustees and the clamor of one or two popular orators. The meeting last evening was quite prepared to pass anything. Had either Mr Eenall or Mr Hogg proposed that a clause should he inserted authorising the Trust to dispose of the whole of its resources in order to erect statues in commemoration of the virtues of these two platform favorites, the motion would have been carried by acclamation.
