SERIOUS GUN ACCIDENT.

A rather serious gun accident occurred yesterday, by which Robert McGuire, aged seventeen, had a very narrow escapo of losing his life. McGuire, who is a soil of Air McGuire of the railway department, went on a shooting expedition with Mr David Anderson, in whose employ he is. Upon returning to Kuripuni at about eight o'clock in the evening, McGuire, after getting down from the cart in which they had travelled, seized his gun by the muzzle in withdrawing it from the vehicle, It was loaded, and it is supposed that the hammer must have been left up, and the trigger have caught, for the weapon went off, and the exploding charge blow away the flesh and muscle from the unfortunate youth's right arm, for about five inches between the elbow and shoulder. The elbow joint and the arm bone were entirely exposed to view, and it seems almost miraculous that the main artery was not severed. If it had been, the sufferer would have bled to death. As it is, tiie result although a serious one may possibly permanently disable the arm, but it will not cause the loss of it. McGuire was placed under Er Hosking's care and was at once removed to the hospital. Inquiry tins morning elicited the news that ho was progressing as favourably as could bo expected,
