Two of the District officers from Wellington arrived at Mangamahoe by train for the interesting ceremony, and no doubt with an oye to the numerous plump pigeons. The officers having assembled at the schoolhouso a Court was formally opened D.S.C.R. Bro. Gillespie presiding, assisted by the following olii(jors:—P.O.R. Bro, Brown acting 5.C.8.; C.R, Bro. J. The charter having been read, the new Court Kopuaranga No. 7507 was declared duly constituted in accordance with ancient formula. Nineteen new members were then initiated into the ancient mysteries, and the following officers elected and installed in office; C.R. Bro. Jas. Cottiss; S.C.R. Bro. A. Johnston; Treasurer, Bro. 010 Anderson; Secretary, Bro. G. Franklin; S.W. Bro. J. Elliott; J.W., Bro, A. McLaclilan; S.B. Bro. C. Rowe; J.B, Bro. Ole Isaacson, Congratulations were received and responded to, and the Court was formally closed, and an immediate adjournment made to another room where a banquet was prepared which would have done credit to the Empire City, The tables were beautifully decorated with flowers, etc., and a profuse supply of provisions, solid and liquid, was provided, the whole being ably and pleasantly presided over by the Misses Gunderson, Eating, drinking, and joking proceeded in a most enjoyable manner, and then came the usual loyal toasts: success to the new Court, the District Officers, the visiting brethren, press, and the ladies, interspersed and succeeded by songs and recitations, And I must not forget to record that the young ladies present sang some very sweet songs in a charming inanner,
The visitors drove back at six o'clock in the morning, thoroughly well-pleased with their entertainment, and well agreed that if there is one thing more than another understood by the good people of Mauricevillo, it is hospitality and harmony. The District officers were so enchanted with their surroundings that they would not return witii their Masterton brethren, preferring to go in for a little pigeon and kaka shooting,
