School Committee Elections.

k special meeting of the Masterton School Commitf.ee was held last night Present, Messrs Boddington (chairmi) A. - Oullsn, Lowes, McEwen, and Pay torn The previous meeting's minutes were read and confirmed. Mr Pavtou explained that owing to the absence of Mr A. W. Hogg, there could unfortunately bo no outcome of . the proposition standing in that gentleman's name, that " At a special meeting of thfi School Committee, a suitable compliment be paid to the chairman (Mr Boddington) for his long and creditable term of office as chairman of the school committee," Mr Pay ton added that though the members present would much regret the nonattendance of the mover of the resolution, he thought he would only be expressing the sentiments of his fellow committeemen iii saying that Mr Boddington had their entire respect and their hearty thanks for his valuable services in the past, and that they k , would take an early aud proper opportunity of expressing thoir feelings in this direction, 'jfe The minutes of the present meeting were then read and confirmed, and this the last meeting of the present committee closed.
GENERAL MEETING. A public meeting of householders was then held, for the purpose of receiving the past year's report and statement of accounts, and to elect the coming year's committee. The annual report and balance sheet as previously published in the Wairarapa Daily, were here read, Mr Boddington, the Chairman of the School Committee in presenting the report and statement, said that he considered the retiring committee, by the results of the examinations and otherwise, had a good record to show. He thought the Committee, too, was fortunate in possessing such an able and zealous head master a.»Mr Grundy (applause), whose sucaSSfnl , efforts were well seconded by so good a staff, The Masterton School, he considered,was second to none in either the Provincial District or the, - C-jlony. It 7 was, as doubtless they knew, net his intention to ' 1 stand again as a candidate. He heartily thanked those who had k :
tho past so often re-elected him, ami also tlio Committees for re-appointing him their cliainimn so continuously. During the time of his service, he felt that he hadhad the confidence ot the Educatioiiffiiard, the [invents, and the stuff; butany good lie might have done, he considered was greatly duo to tlio help ho had received from his fellow committee-men. Before concluding, he might ullui.lt with regret to the retirement of two other com-mittee-men o( long standing, viz., Messrs Lowes and Puyton. Mr Boddingtou then moved the adoption of tlio report, and balancesheet; and this, seconded by Mr Renall, was unanimously carried. Mi' Renall, remarking that the report was thoroughly satisfactory, alluded to the faithfulness and punctuality with which the retiring committee, and especially Messrs JJoddingtoil, ,Lowes, mid Payton, had curried outUjjeir duties, Ho,had pleasure in m ?'Fo\ a s l )ec ' a ' vo '° '° them. Mr W, H. Bcetlmm seconded this motion, and it was carried with
acclamation. Mv Boddingtou, in acknowledging on behalf of the retiring committee, the vote of thanks, said that as regarded hinisettLe might say that although ! taking wr official action in school ! affairs, his interest in them would by 110 means (lag, and lie would at all times do all lie could to further the interests of education, The election of the new committee was then proceeded with, Messrs J. J. Freeth and \V. Lowes being chosen scrutineers. i The following were nominated, and 1 tho voting resulted as under

Temple ... 27 61 Totals: — 523 1405 J The Chairman declared tho seven first-mentioned duly elected, At a special meeting of the new C'ommit(jßpie)d immediately atter- ; wards, Mr Edwin Feist was proposed I for the Chairmanship by Mr Mcliwcn ; seconded by Mr Daniull; and Mr A. W. " Renall by Mr Hogg, secouded by Mr Prangtiell. Upon tho motions being put lo vote, i Mr Feist was elected Chairman I for tho ensuing year, and after the previous Committee's standing orders 1 had been adopted the meeting closed.

Taiieru. The lapwing is tho new Taueru School (IsKinittee: —Messrs F, Smith, H. Smith, A. Smith, ,Davey, Neary, Manning and Hanson, A meeting of the new Committee was then held when Mr F. Smith was elected Chairman ; Mr P. Hanson, Secretary; and Mr Dayy, Treasurer. After an account was passed for payment, tho meeting adjourned until Saturday, 28th April.
Greytom Mr F. H. Wood having been voted to the chair, read the annual report and ' balance sheet, which were duly adopted. ' A vote of thanks was then passed to the outgoing Committee. The election o[ a Committee for the ensuing year next proceeded with. Fourteen gentlemen were nominated, and a ballot being taken, the following were declared duly elected viz., voles voters E, C. Black .... 33 29 A. L. Webster ... 33 27 F. EL Wood ... 31 28 W,a Cuff ... 26 25 Lewis ... 22 'I K. W. Tate ... 21 20 Messrs D. P. Loasby and G. Wyett acted as scrutineers. Elad plurality of voting been done away with the result would have stood Messrs Black, Wood, Webster, Cuff, Skeet, Tait and Knight, which shows that only to a very small extent were the powers of plurality of voting taken advantage of, as with one exception the i;esuit would have been the same. At the first meeting of the newly elected Committee, lieid immediately after the public meeting, Mr Cuff was elected Chairman, Mr W, Skeet, treasurer, and Mr 11. W. Tate, lion, secretary.
. Pahiatua. Paliiatua School Committee election last night was very quiet, only abontAhouseholders being present. The blowing were elected viziMessrs McCardlc (Chairman), Reese, ffaylor, Bainton, 11. Sedcole, Greville, ' and Waller.
Cross' Greek. The following were elected at Cross' Creek Messrs T. Kerby (Chaituuui) E, Hope, T, Cannon, T. Fletcher, A. Allan, Alex. Allan, and T. llutcliens. Featherston. The election of the School Committee at Feutheiston resulted in the following gentlemen being elected: Messrs John Beal 55, Charles Candy 5-1, J. G. Cox 27, James Donald 27, W. Benton 20, Arney 12,-T. Worsley 12. Clareville Tim undermentioned were elected meifflrs of the Clareville School CommiteeMessrs J. Bairstow, 18 j A. Booth, 15 jF. Feist, 14; J. Neilson, 8; \V, B Allen, 8; Do Lacy, 6; John Smith, 5. There were 14 householders present,and ten persons were nominated. Mr F. Feist was chosen Chairman, A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr I, Booth, the retiring Chairman,
