TAUERU.
(From a Correspondent.) Our annual examination of tho school children has just taken place. It was quite interesting to see the eager faces of the little ones, watching for tho arrival of the Inspector. At last their anxiety was rewarded by the appearance of Mr Lee, and right well they have acquitted themselves. Out of 34 presented, 32 passed, and the result is all the more pleasing considering the drawbacks Mr Edridge, the master, has had to contend against. He is not only uew to the school, but the attendanoo had sadly fallen off previous to his taking charge. The good result of the examination must be voi'y satisfactory to him, and well does he deserve it, for he has worked hard to ensure success. His kindness to the children and his general courtesy to all, have made him very popular with everyone, and being a proficient musician he has greatly assisted in the many enjoyable concerts held at the Taueru this past year. \Ye all hope that he will be as successful at the next examination as lie lias been with this. Mr Lee publicly expressed his surprise and satisfaction at the result of the examination,
