The Upper Plain Nuisance.

We are glad to notice that our paragraph calling attention to the existence of a serious nuisance on the Upper Plain has been productive of some action, and upon calling at the Borough office this morning we were allowed to copy the report given below for publication. The matter will thus probably he discussed at to-night's Council meeting :-

"To the Masterton Borongli Council. Gentlemen,—On the 29th of March lust, my attention was called to a terrible nuisance on the Upper Plain. I accordingly attended to thecomplaint, On making enquiries I found that some one had bsen carting away some of the refuse from Mr W, Perry's slaughter yard, and depositing the same on Mr J, liessey's land at the Upper Plain, I traced it from the slaughter yard to the place above mentioned, and the road was more or less stagnant the whole distance. It was also near the public road and close to several cottages. I was informed that it made the people quite ill. I found that the offal was spread over the surface of the land, and was being ploughed in when I arrived at the spot. I also found that the deposits was not m the Borough, and consequently I could take no action,—l am (fee,, (Signed) J. C. iNuiusr, Inspector of Nuisances."
