Baling Robbery,
Dunedin, March 26. A daring robbery was committed at the Coffee Palace last week, the safe having been opened and the sum of £4O abstracted. Suspicion falls on a person who lodged in the palace, and who is believed to have paid his board on the morning following the robbery with money which he had taken. No arrest has been made. Laing v Matthews, Wanganui, March 24, Laing has gone north for the purpose of fighting Matthews on Thursday next. He is in fair form and expects to give a good account of himself, The Rabbit Conference DelegatePolice ChangesWellington, Tuesday. Arthur Bell, son of Sir Dillon Bell, has been asked by the Government to represent New Zealand in the conference of Colonial delegates on the Babbit Pest, and he will probably consent.
Inspector Browne is shortly to be removed from Wellington.
