London, March 22. The Oporto Theatre was entirely destroyed by fire last night, and about 80 persons, chiefly occupying the gallery of the theatre, perished in the flames. Energetic Exploration for precious Stones. London, March 22. M'Donald, of South Australian ruby mining celebrity, will form a company with the object of thoroughly exploring central Australia for rubies and other precious stones. It is reported that the capital of the company will be £400,000. A Burning Question. London, March 22. The Temperance party object to the clause in the Local Government Bill, which proposes to grant compensation for the refusal of licenses. The publican section [strongly oppose the proposal to increase the license fee.
