[Through some unexplained cause the handicapper has omitted to allot weights to Revoke, Escapade, and the Gem.] We are informed that the disputed horse question between Messrs H. Campbell and T. A. Lyons has been settled by arbitration. The three gentlemen mutually selected to decide the issue, have ruled that if Campbell desires to obtain possession of Ngarata at once, he must pay Lyons £10; otherwise the horse is to be retained by the latter for racing purposes until the 10th of April, or until after the Island Bay meeting, at which time he reverts to Campbell without payment, Mr Campbell, in using his option, has we understand, lecided not to take the horse from Mr Lyons until the period expires. The arrangement entered, into between the parties appears to have been a verbal one by which Lyons, who broke-in and trained Ngarata, was to have the use of him, and receive any stakes which he won, on condition that he paid all expenses. This much was admitted on both sides. The point in dispute was the time over which the arrangement was to extend. Mr Campbell held that it was on sufferance, and that he oould immediately regain his horse at any time upon giving notice, and Mr Lyons contended that it was intended to apply to the whole racing season. This, therefore, was what the referees had to give judgment upon, and they discharged their duty satisfactorily as above, and what was for a time a troublesome matter is now disposed of.
