ERETAHUNA.
(From our own correspondent.) SAD CASE OF"DROWNING. News has just reached me of the melancholy death of MrsEwart, an old and well-known resident. It seems that Mr Shaw took her on his coach, on Monday last, as far as the Central Road, at which point she turned off for her own home. Being missed, search was made, and the body was found this (Friday) morning in the river.
Another Correspondent writesA woman, named Mrs Ewart was found in the Makakahihi River this morning. It is supposed that in crossing the river leading to her home on the
Central Boad, she was earned away by the current, and drowned. The last time she was seen alive , was on Monday afternoon, when she got off at the junction of Central Boad, with the intention of going to her home.
