A Little Child Killed,
Thb friends of Mr W. A. Yarnham, of Papawai, Greytown, will regret to hear that through an unfortunate accident he has lost his daughter Elsie, a bright little girl, three years old. terto four o'olook Mr Varnhanrwas startled at receiving a telegraphic message from Greytown to return home at once with all speed. He and Mrs Yarnhara immediately left for Greytown, They had, however, not gone half ah hour before Mr W. McKonzie, of our staff, to whom Mr Varnham is related, and to whom the first telegram had been addressed, received a second wire, advising that the child was dead, • ■; > ■
From news received from Greytown this morning, it seems that- the little one was playing on the table when she fell to the floor, and in doirtgso caught her legs in a chair, with the result .tfiat her spine was, it is supposed, injured, The accident happened at 3.10 p.m. and at 3.30 p.m. the little sufferer was dead, ■
It iB understood an' inquest will probably be held, as the doctor is unable to say the exact nature of the injury which was the immediate, cause of death,
