CORRESPONDENCE.

The Horticultural Society. To, the Editor, Sir,—Judging from the correspondence which has appeared in the local press since our last show relative to horticultural matters, it is evident that the public are at last awaking to the necessity of a Horticultural Society and the advantages to accrue therefrom. Our meeting takes place tonight, and let me suggest to those who take an interest in our Society, that they should show their earnest in our welfare by attending and giving us the benefit of their experience and advice. It is in this way, more than in an indirect way of making complaints, that the interests of our society are likely to be advanced. I may add that I observe that complaints are likely to be made against certain members of our committee in connection with their conduct at the late show. Your paragraph is the first that I have seen hereon, but I trust that any complaints will be fully brought before the meeting. I am &c, Wji. C. Beard. President M. H. andl. Society, Masterton, March 14th, 1888.
