Carterton Flower Show.

The Taratahi-Oarterton Horticultural Association's Flower Show was held at Carterton last Saturday. It was a great success in every way, and reflected creditably on Mr F. W. R. Seed, the Secretary, and the manage- ' ment generally. In pot plants, Mr A. Booth was by , A far the largest and most deserving exbibitor, and he took no less than eight -.- -first.- prizes and five second. The awards in the professional gardener's classes for forty-eight pot plants, and for fifteen cut flowers, were secured by Mr C. Thompson, of Masterton, and this gentleman also took several other first prizes, The most successful competitors in cut flowers were Mr W. liossiter and Mr E. W, Dorset, and Mrs F. W. R, Seed was the first on the list for the best hand boquet, with Mr \V. Brooks first for the table boquet, Mrs Samuel (decorated epergne) and Miss 1\ Booth (bridal boquet) also took first prizes, Mr D. Stone headed the prize takers for fruit, and Messrß W. Eossiter and W. Bambery \vere also to the fore with good exhibits, In vegetables Mr W. C. Buchanan took the most prizes, while for firm produce Mr T. Sparks (bam and bacon) was first, and for bread Mrs G, Beere, Miss Taylor took the place of honor for Ladies' fancy work, . Alice Smith for girl's knitting, and JB Miss Jackson for painting. Theapair- ■ ian elass had only one entry, Mr W. Bambery's, and his admirable collection of honey and appliances was awarded a special prize for its evident merit,
