Tenui Hack Races. Fbiday, March 9th. : STEWARDS-Messrs' A. Walker, J. Sutherland J, W. Smith, T. Parr, I. Carswell, J, Watson, and Roberteon Judge-A, McHuichon. Starter—J. Schofield. Clerk of Scales —J. A. Perry. Clerk of Course - J. McDonnell. Handicap per—Nv Grace. [By.Our Special Reporter.] The.Tinui Hack Club were favored with excellent weather for their annual meeting. The attendance was not up to that of previous years, but the racing was most interesting and enjoyable, there being no accidents of any kind to mar the proceedings. The arrangements, for.au up-country meetin?, were excellent. - Mr R. Me Farlane had one of Hayes and Jenkins' lotalisators on the ground, but judging from the small amount put through the machine-about -£22s—it would hardly pay his expenses. The spielers, of whioh there were half-a-dozen, failed to make money, anJ had to paok up their" duds" at the close of the second race. In fact so bad did they fare, that only one of the betting fraternity succeeded in making a 5s •bet, and to win that'it cost him Is Gd for drinks. The publican's and refresh-, ment booths, owing to the invigorating state of the atmosphere, were well supported, being excellently catered for by Mr 3 Own and Mrs McGuclten respectively. Mounted Constable Collerton wasinattendance, r but the gathering was so orderly that his services were never sought after. The various officials of the Club discharged their respective duties in, "a thoroughly business-like way, and as a result their labors met with general approval on all sides.
