Tragic Occurence,
Melbourne, March 5, Mr Fredericks', an opera singer, had just finished playing Mephistopheles in " Faust" at the Princess Theatre on Saturday night when he fell dead. He had been suffering from heart disease for some time, and it is supposed that fclie excitement of the part was too much for him. Startling Burglary, four armed burglars wearing masks broke into the Caledonian Hotel and murderously assaulted the landlord. They robbed the safe of £6OO. Broken Hill Silver Mine,. Sydney, March 0. Since the declaration of a dividend of £IG on Broken Hill Proprietary silver shares, there has been a sharp fall on the share market, and shares are now down, and are quoted at from £375. There has been a corresponding decline all round in silver scrip, A Silver King, Melbourne' March, 3. A Dr. James, who invested £SOOO in Broken Hill shares early in the speculation fever, has just sold out for £375,000.
