Masterton Lawn Tennis Club.
The final tie for the Championship was played yesterday between Mr P. H. Cox and Mr H. Warren, and resulted jn a win for Cox, tho games being 6-3,6-o.' In tho'first set it looked like a walk over for Cox, it at one time standing s—o, but Warren by some excellent play succeeded jn running his sebve unto 3, whew Cos
again scored, the set ending 6--8. Cox played a splendid game, bis placing being a distinct feature. The second set was a dear run away for Cox, his opponent failing to score, Both men seemed in excellent fettle at the commencement of play, Cox being in better form than at any time during tho season. Warren, did not play his usual dashing game, which may be attributed to want of practice. The result of this tie places Mr Cox as the champion for 1888. The win is a most popular one, Mr Cox having taken such a keen interest in the Club since he assumed the post of secretary.
