LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board was held at the Land Board Office, at Wellington, on Wednesday last, there being present Messrs J. W. A. Marchaut (Chief Commissioner) ' W. A. Fitzherbort, W. W. MeCardle, G. Beetham, and D, A. Macarthur. The schedule of lands showed that 1836 acres 3 roods 8 perches had been sold since last meeting at an upset px'jsfof £97B'lGs 9d. The following applications to transfer were approved on the usual conditions Deferred payment section 8, Block IX, Waipultarau, J. G. Carpenter to D. A. Perry, dflferr'cMayment section 206, Block XII, ffiigaone, H. Bonton to J. Brannigan, deferred payment sections 225 and 220, Hunterville, C. E, Chatterbuck to—Cameron. The latter application was granted providing that the coming licensee resides on the sections. Applications to capitalize were approved as followsA. Davidson, section 21, Block IX, Pohangina ; A, Guy, section 17, Block XIV, iMangaone; L. Lnoni, section 1, Block IV, Mangahao. The selector of sections 203 and 204, Hunterville, applied to bo allowed to complete his title to the same. It was decided to let the matter stand over for the present. Mr T. Bayliss, selector of deferred payment section 43, Block VI, Mangaono, applied to be allowed to extend his license to 14 years. It was resolved to approve the application, and to make a charge of £1 in such cases. Mr J. Mr E. T, Greville, selector of section 50, Block I, Makuri, applied to be allowed to extend his license to 14 years, Approved subject to payment of .£1 by the applicant. The Kiwitea Road Board forwarded the consent of owners to the division of accrued thirds to be expended on road works in their district, Approved. The Mauriceville Road Board forwarded plans and proposals for spending accrued thirds on road works through their district. Approved, subject to the bridge proposed being built on a public road, giving access to the sections interested. The Pahiatua Road Board forwarded plans .. and proposak for expending accrued thirds on iifß works in the PahiatuaPuketoi Special Settlement Block. Appiwed, Mr W. Hammond applied to brailowed to lease a clearing on the Kawatau Stream in the Otamakapua Block for a term of years at 3d per acre. The Board resolved to offer the land as a pastoral lease from year to year at an annual rental of 3d per acre. The Board resolved to cancel the interest of the selector in perpetual lease section 34, Block 111, Mangaone, as he had not complied with the conditions under which he selected the land. An application was received from Mr S. Mawley for a piece of L Crown land in Block X,, Kopuaranga, as a small run. It was resolved to offer the land under the Act of 1887 at £1 per acre. Mr J. Montgomery, selector of perpetual lease section 3, Block IX., Waipukarau, applied for permission to reside on lands contiguous to the same. Approved. With regard to the sale of sections 1 and 2, Block IX., Rewa. to Mr R. R. Meredith. It wyAsolved to ask Mr Meredith whetheFlie will purchase part of section .886, also containing 48 acres 2 roods, 3 perches, so as to provide road access to the land. The Commissioner •submitted proposals for disposing of the siift.il reserve in the Mangaone block which wero approved. The question of offering the acre sections in Hastwell Village and Mangatainoko Settlements for sale at an early date was deferred until next meeting. The secretary of the Woodville-Tiramea Special Settlement wrote with reference to granting an extension of time in which to enable selectors to make sufficient improvement to exempt them from residing on the lands, It was resolved that with sections with fair means of access, bush-felling sufficient to cover the exemption from residence must be commenced not later than May Ist next, those with fair means of acces to be notified that they must comply with residential condition.
