MASTERTON RAMAND EWE FAIR.

The Masterton Ham and Ewe Fair, under the auspices of 'lie Masterton A. and P. Association, was lieli' tit Messrs Lowes and lorns, sale yards yesterday, and may lie considered a great success in the face of the general depression and low price of stock. Tho result was a surprise to most people, About 600 rams were penned, and with tho exception of a few lines held over for Carterton, tho whole were quitted either under the hammer or directly afterwards. I'll 3 demand throughout was for Lincolns, Llomney Marsh being very dull of sale. In English Leicesters also, the demand was only limited. Cotswolds were in fair enquiry. Li Southdowns the bidding was much behind previous seasons, only a few selling. Merinos wero not on the catalogue, they are quite out of favor. Canterbury, Otago, Uawkes Bay,'and the Wellington Districts were weil represented in all types of rums. In Lincolns, Mr Reid, of Elderslie, made made the top price, and Messrs Cobb and Dorset were equal in Komney Marsh,

In purebred Lincolns, again, Mr Joseph Ingley's realised from L2 17s Gd to L 3 2s 6d, and forßomney Marsh Mr E. W. Dorset obtainsd from L2 to L 3. A. considerable number of Bomneys were also sold for other buyers, at prices ranging from 15s to L2. The principal buyers in the lines sold by me were Messrs John Morrison, A. Cameron, Gorringe, P.
