Fearful Catastrophe.
Terrible Busli Fires. of Settlers ißimt out at Hastwell's {Settlement. (Special From Our Own Reporter), THIS DAY,
One of the largest and most destructive fires that has ever occurred in the bush is now raging. Yesterday afternoon and evening, the whole of Hastwell's Settlement for a distanco of one and a-lialf miles was a burning mass. Traffic till this morning was entirely suspended. The whole of the small farm settlers have been burnt out. From what I can gather the following had their holdings consumed by the flames, James Capper, John Moorcock, John Eraser, Donald Askow, DouJK Robinson, and James Craighifon. Capper and Moorcock are injured in Liverpool, London and Globe for £SO and £125 respectively, butthis by 110 means covers their loss. Others are running short, and lose everything they possess; in fact they are ruined, With tho exception of Eobinson> the settlers have large families.
Anderson's blacksmith's shop near Hastwell's toll-gate; and also Janetfc and Co.'s saw-mills are in danger.
