Our local contemporary argues that the Mayor represents the ratepayers of Masterton, and that the Councillors do not, This is an absurdity! In April last there was a well-contested ward election, in which one of our local contemporary's best men—Mr Job Vile-was pitted against Mr James Macara, with the following result:—Macara 105, Vile 19, and yet according to our contenworary's line of argument, Mr Macara does not represent the ratepayers!
