The weather has not been entirely favorable, but still harvesting operations on the wholo have been a success, Certainly, some of the standing craps have suffered from the wind, but the cuf ones have not depreciated to any extent, any. showers that may have fallen being at once dried up by the breezes, before tho grain could become sodden, Farmers are at present having % busy time of it, and last Saturday night the noise of reapers and binders at work by moonlight could be heard in several localities. This morning s wind was creating great havoc among the apples in our orchards, and was shrivelling up the plums in a very damaging way, in faot as one gentleman remarked to us, it was playing Old Many with things generally. He also showed us several apples pretty well burnt through, with the combination of sun and wind. Between Codlin moths, pear slugs and other pests, our fruit has a good chance of being entirely destroyed. As regards the wind, there is certainly a means of lessening the ravages by now observing which quarter of tho garden the fiercest gales strike, and growing such shelter trees as pices, and cupressus niacrocarpa,
