WooDviLtE, January 25. An accident happened to a man named Quinlan whilst leading a horse through the ManaWatu Gorge. The horse shied, knocking Quinlan and the horse he was riding over a precipice. Westport, January 25.

A man, giving the name of John Gardner, was arrested on the Buller Soad, thirteen miles from Westport, yesterday, by. Constable Bowden, of Lyell. He is wanted for a sticking-up case at Buck Hill Station, Marlborough.. It is alleged that he entered the hut of a man named Anderson, stole some money, and fired a revolver at Anderson. Prisoner answers the - description; and admits being at the Station on the day in question, but he denies having had any rowlhere. He will be remanded to Blenheim. ' .
