MASTERTON BOROUGH.
NEW BY LAWS. SATURDAY,' 14th JANUARY. Several new by-laws come into force, on Saturday, 14th inst. The following being of general interest we bring them under notice. SLAUGHTER HOUSES. All slaughter houses in the Borough and within a mile of its boundary have to be licensed. DRIVING LOOSE HOUSES. No IoM9 horses are to be driven about the streets of the town without the written consent of the Council, BICYCLES (fee ON FOOTPATHS Neither bicycle- tricycle, barrow, nor hand cart shall be driven on the footpath, PEDLARS LICENSES. Pedlars licenses are reduced from a guinea a month to 5s for the same period. Residents hawking perishable goods, are, however exempt. BATHING. Bathing is prohibited between 8 in the morning andß at night,,in all public places, including ihe Park and Cemetery, unless suitablo dressis worn, or the person bathes from an enclosure. ' HALL LICENSES. •The following tees are to be enforced as'licenses for balls used as places of public entertainment : [Seatingcapacifcyupto f M 200 I per annum Seating capacity up to (■,,„ 350 I * 2 P erannmn Seating capacity over ( no ' 350 I * 3 P erannum Circuses or Exhibi-f 0K tions 1 ' ■ w ' BUILDING REGULATIONS. • The building regulations are altered Persons building within five feet of any other building in District No. 1 must erect a brick party wall and parapet on that side. Any future building facing a half-chain street and ereofced within 16| feet of that street must have an external wall of brick the whole length of that side,' ■ ■ ' DANGEROUS CHIMNEYS. Chimneys which are thought unsafe can be inspected by the Council, who have powertq give the o«/ner notice to remedy defects, :':. T
OVER HAI.GING TREES AND FENCES. It is now an offence if any trees, . shrubs or fences are allowed to overhang streets, and the Inspector has power to cut away the obstruction without notice. CESS-PITS., . Afr Provision is mode for the estacßli- > mt-nt of water-tight cesspits on private property to be emptied by the nightman, in cases where the Inspector tliinks they are necessary. OFFENSIVE WATER INTO CREEKS, ETC, The public are prohibited from .conveying any offensive water into any creek, drain, or ffatercoiirse. ' \ KEEPING WATERCOURSES CLEAN.' "*' ,"' The owners of property' through which watercourses run are also bound to keep them free from watercress, ; weeds, and obstructions. I The above embody, as far as we can see, all the new conditions in the revised set of By-lawß.
