"A MIRACLE! A MIRACLE!"
The Naples correspondent of .the Times writes.—" A miracle, no uncommon thing, was wrought last week in a little Church opposite the Botanical Gardens. It is not worth reporting except for the sensible manner in which tho rector acted, There is in tho Church a statue representing ' Maria Addolorata,' In the middle of amass the old brother of a priest shouted ' A miracle! a miracle .'—the Madonna opens her. eyes.' The cry was repeated by all in the Church,, and was taken up by the people in the streets,- who crowded into the little Church; A delegate of police, who was soon on the spot,-after examining the ordered it to bo romoved to the high altar. The rector of another Church and anothor delegate of. police then explained that there was no miracle, but an optical illusion by tho refraction of rays of light which ■entered' by a window' at tho back of the organ.
