EKETAHUNA ROAD BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of this Board was held at the- schoolhouse on tho 31st hist. Present; Messrs T. Bayliss (Chairman), A. Anderson, J. 'M. Davie, and 0. E, Beckman. The Clerk, as Returning Officer, formally informed the Board that John Mortimer Davie had been duly elected in the place of the late E. L. Vince. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence read. From Commissioner of Crown Lands approving of the Boards proposals re expenditure of accruing thirds; from Wairarapa-North County Council granting permission to metal portions of the Alfredton Road; from same stating the Council had authorised Councillor Yon.Jßeden to treat with the.owner of section 48; Block X for a-'metal pit; from Property Tax .Commissioner with amended list of lan"ds. v which.liave!ceased'to be native lands, and are now transferred to the Crown. From Colonial Treasurer. He will pay the rates on Crown-Lauds for thecurt'cnlyearbntiiotaftenvai'dsifrom Secretary of Parkville Special Settlement Association, with list of names of the members of the Association, and requesting the Board to apply for thirds accruing from lands belonging lo members of the Association. To be held over by the Board to pay interest on loan it is proposed to make for road making. . The Board resolved to. apply for a loan of £2OOO, for the formation of bridges', and ; metalling on the Mangaoiie Valley and Hawera Roads. The following tenders were received for the various works:-For buildingoffice—T.. Miller '£47 (accepted), Hopkins and Aulin £49,; Brown and Dowdsweil'£'s9 9s, Olseu and Jlalmberg £64105, Metalling on Alfredton Road- A, Anderson £79 9s 6d (accepted), McMillan & Co. £BBl7s6d, M. Shauahan £l2l. ""The; Clerk was instructed to call tenders-for seven chains of metalling on the Hawera Road, Mr Davie was authorised: to'spend £8 in surface repairs oiithe same road. Mr A. Anderson gave notice that at the next meeting of the Board, ho would move, " That a deposit of five per cent on tho amount of the contract be required with all tenders for works under the Board."
The Clerk reported that he had written to the Government in reference to the accrued thirds on the Parkville Special. Settlement lands. An account of £5 ISsfor surveying on the Tawataia Eoad was passed for payment.
Messrs Anderson and Davie were appointed to sign cheques on behalf of the Board. ■:....
' Messrs Bayliss and Anderson were appointed to supervise the metalling on the Alfredton- Road, and Mr Beekrnan to supervise the building of the office, The meeting then adjourned.
