The above meeting, which took place lit Kumumu, Vallanco's Flat, on Nuw Year's Day, paused off very nalisfactorily, thoro being fully two hundred .persona present, a portion of whom consisted of the fair sex. Mr Carswoll, tlio promoter of the meeting, deserves the thanks of the community in' and around the Whareaum for providing recreation for those who find it impossible to attend similar gatherings in other parts of the Wuirarupa. The following gentlemen kindly lent tlieir services and added greatly to the success of the meet:ng : —■Mr A. MeHutchon judge, Mr F. A. Sheath starter, Mr E. J. Fitton secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Tricker- clerk of the .course. With the exception of a-couple of horses clearing out and running into a wire fence, there was no accident to mar the day's outing. This was the - principal race of the day, there.being no less than fourteen to face the starter. After various changes, and when about a quarter of a mile from home, the three first mentioned came away from the others, and ran an exciting finish, Fritz winning comfortably. 15xtr& Hack Race.
