The annual gathering of the above Club was held on the Maryborough course on Boxing Day. The weather was fine but very windy, and the attendance about five hundred. The totalisator, under the management of Mill Mactarlanedid a very good business, as did also Host Wilkinson, of the Tauherenikau Hotel, with the publican's booth and Mr W, Buckeridge with the refreshment stall. The games generally so noticeable at these gatherings were conspicuous by their absence. During the day tbe proceedings were enlivened with some very choice selections contributed by the vireytown Brass Band. The racing throughout whs good, and with the exception of Buckeridge's Scrubber coming down a cropper in. the Hack Hurdle Race, there were fortunately no serious accidents to record. Fivo of the prin-. ci|+»l events were carried off by Mr McKenzie's stable, The stewards, with their energetic secretary, Mr McLeod, are to be. complimented for the satisfactory nianner ln which they carried out their arduous duties.
