Manners-stheet, \VblFRIDAY, JANUARY 13, 1887. At 1 o'clock p.m. m KENNEDY MAODONALD and 1, Co are favored with instructions from the Wellington-and Mnnawatit Railway Company, Limited,'to soil by public auction as above, about 12,000 ACRES of GRAND AGRICULTURAL and PASTORAL LAND, Situate near the township of Otaki, being tho Blocks Nos 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, of the Kaitawa Survey District, subdivided into over sixtv sections, ranging in area from fifty-six acres to seven hundred and forty seven acres each. A number of the smaller sections are pure agricultural land, while the larger, areas are part agricultural and part pastoral. They are splendidly watered, and tho timber upon them is mixed tawa, riinu, etc, ■ On several of the sections will bo found magnificent tofciira; the whole of of the timber used in the Otaki Bridge, aud tho sleepers required for the railway having been cut from portion of the bush. The land ia flatand undulating, undulating and hilly, and somoof the flats have very rich rivor deposits,' The soil throughout is classed by experts as exceedingly good, the only stony portions being those on which the totara is found, and the value of this timber for tawmill purposes makes the hmd upon which it grows exceptionally valuable, All tho sections are reached by partly cleared roads 1 running from the railway stations at Te Horo and Hautero, about 44 miles from Wellington, the centre of the blocks being about 2\ miles from the railway stations, and thence in various directions throughout tho blocks. The aim of the Cmpany being to sell their lands to bona tide occupiers, and 6o create traffic for their line, high prices are not looked' for; the Company, as a railway proprietary, recognising that a largo and energetic body of settlers occupying high-class land, purchased at a low price, will be of more permanent value to them and the community than iftheysji'd a limited area at hiijh rates. This result is already being achieved, a large number of farmers, sawmillers, and ofhets being in actual occupation of tho. lands sold by the company during the past eighteen months.. Many hundreds of acres of bush are now, down- ready for burning, aiid not a few' of the previous' , buyers haye been offered handsome profits on their investments. In order to, increase the satisfactory result, the terms of sale are still fixed on a busiß which will, we feel suro, be appreciated by all who desire to see the lands of the country speedily settled.
