A STREET DANGER.
[To the Editor,] _ Sm—l beg permission to call atteiK lion through your columns to a very dangerous practice that is carried on in this town, viz,, driving mobs of horses at full gallop through the streets, I have been expecting to hear of a serious accident through this practice, and wonder you have-not had to record several before this. 1 take it for granted that there is a law prohibiting this, as I remember a few weeks ago the Borough Inspector summoned a man! who was a comparative stranger here, for tying his hfA. to his own fence, and was fined for offence, although he pleaded ignorance ' of the borough by-law,.; There is an old saying "One man may steal a sheep, but another," &c, which is applicable to this case, as one: of the owners of the horses referred to is a member of our Borough Council and actually helped to frame the- -lawa'.--which he continues to break with / impunity, and other owners I suppose [, consider they have the same right. It is very interesting to watch the antics
of a mob of about thirty horees galloping down Queen street, then half of them turn up Renall street and the
remainder shoot off in an opposite direction; then to see a horseman, .> stockwhip in hand, artistically head m? them, and with a crack and a seud them back at even a quickeitf pace. Honing you will find room fo * this letter m you? valuable polumns,~'"" and trusting that the proper authorities will take the matter in hand,. r&m, &oV ''"'"''.' Paterfamilias,
