GLADSTONE is by Prince Royal (30) dam a mare by Old Wellington, grand dam imported from Victoria. The well-known Clydesdale Stallion Prince Royal was bred by Mr D. McQueen, Smeaton, Victoria, and was imported by his present owner, Mr John MpKellor, Doyleston, Canterbury. Prince Royal is by Prince Charlie, who was imported by. Messrs J, and M, Mcintosh from Scotland, wtere he gained 7,lst prizes, His dim Blossom by Bothwellwas ako imported from Scotland, Prince Royal is a rich brown color, stands 16 hands and 3 inches, showing great symmetry' of form, with plenty of hair and bone of the best fashion, Prince Royal commenced his career as a prize taker at two years old, securing second place at Ballorat, and second at Smeaton, where he waßonly beaten by Darwin, tho winner of the Sires' Produce Stakes of £lO. Since his arrival in this colony he has ahws been a prize taker in every show yard where he haß been entered. At the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Metropolitan Show of 1880, hn was awarded the Association Medal and the Treßident's Cup as the best draught stallion of any age on the ground. His stock are now beginning to speak for themselves, notably Mr Stoddart's colt tod Raglan, who took first prize as a tbreo year old at Christclmrch last vwr; Mr Pooock's Prince Victor; Mr J, Boag'fa Royal Prince; and Mr Todd's colt Kelvin, all prize takers, and many others too numerous to mention.
