AVON ia a bay horse with black points, and stands 17 hands high, wtyh plenty of bone and hair. He is come of a great family. His dam was sold at 800 guWs when good mares were sold at a fourth of that price. Grace Darling, by Prince Charlie, Imported (4 and 628), Grace Darling was the best mare that ever stood in Now Zealaud. She has been first and Champion at Cbrlßtohurch Champion of Scotland, She was first in Dunedln in her class and champion of the yard. Id fact her career is unprecedented, AVON'S dam, Gipsy, by Renfrow Jock (135) imported from Victoria; g sire Renfrew, imported from Scotland; g dam Joss, by Blackleg imported from Scotland, Renfrew Jook's dam Rose, by Crowden Lad, & famous Clydesdale, imported from Scotland by the lato David Nesbitt, Renfrew Jock was a most successful show horse. Before leaving Victoria ho took many firsts, and he was three years in succes--Bion in Oamaru, Timaru and Duncdin, and Champion of tho yard as well, From this history breeders will recognise thet they have in Avon n6t only a horse of good parts, but an Entire of good lineage, a matter altogether different from a good looking horse. The great point in horse breeding is to have a sire connected with good families of undoubted character. In the one case tho stock will be uniformly good, while in the other case individuals may surpass, but the general chaiacter of the stock will bo inferior and disappointing, Nothing is more grievous to a breeder than to see weeds spring from a good looking aire. Terms, £'4, payable by P.N. at first service, due January Ist, 1888. For full information apply to G. WATSON, 2697 Proprietor
