The Rev J. and Mrs Mountain's nine days mission was auspiciously commenced at the Masterton Presbyreuan Church yesterday. Long before the time appointed for the young peoples meeting, large numbers of children congregated at the edifice, and at 9.30 there were fully 150 present. The services were conducted in a very pleasing and entertaining manner, the speciality of the gathering being the': flinging which was rendered with great spirit by all present, most of the hymns being new and the melodies of the simplest kind, The afternoon meeting was equally as successful as the preceding one, the little ones being to all appearances sorry when it was concluded, At the ovangelistic meeting in the evening the Church was crowded to suffocation, extra seats being placed down the aisle. The choir, numbering between forty and fifty voices, under the leadership of the Rev Mountain, sang several selections from the Evangel Hymn Books, in a very pleasing manner. Taking for his text, part of the lGth yerse' of the third chapter of John, "For God so loved the world." The Rev. J, Mountain delivered an interesting address, which was interspersed with anecdoteß, and contained some, wholesome advice to parents and ohildnen, Mrs Mountain also addressed the congregation on the same text, placing the subject ..forcibly and impressively before her hearers, Every evaning this week, with the exception ot Saturday,:young people's meetings will be held at 415, a service of song from 7 to 7.30, and public evangel meetings from 7.30. ,

Guilty of Wrong. people have. fashion of confusing excellent remedios with the large mass of '' patent medicines," and iii this they are guilty of a wrong. There are some advertised remedies fully worth all that is asked for them, and ohe at least we know of—Dr Soule's Hop Bitters. The writer has had occasion to use the Bitters in just such a climate as we have 'most of the year in Bay City, and has always found them to be first class and reliable, doing all that is caimed for them. • " Tribune." .
